Since 1909, Diamalteria Italiana has crafted innovative, natural malt extract formulations, developing tailored solutions for every food application in close collaboration with our clients.
We were born from the pioneering vision of our founders, rooted in research, social ethics, and commitment to the natural quality of ingredients, projecting this vision into the future to engage our clients in a journey we embark on together.
The story of Diamalteria Italiana began in 1909, at the height of Italy’s Second Industrial Revolution. It’s a captivating journey that intertwines the natural features of the Camonica Valley—shaped by the waters of the Oglio River and the springs of Mount Altissimo—with the pioneering vision of the Lepetit family, the company’s founders and one of the most important and visionary entrepreneurial families of the era.
Diamalteria Italiana has witnessed all the major events in Italy's national history, actively contributing to the country’s industrial growth and embodying over 115 years of innovation. We honor the ambitious and courageous vision of our founders, preserving the civic legacy of Roberto Enea Lepetit, CEO during the interwar years, who died in 1945 in the Nazi camp at Ebensee due to his committed anti-fascist activism.
Today, Diamalteria Italiana continues to lead innovation in malt extract with high-performance, natural formulations developed alongside our clients. Since 2010, we have been part of Malteurop and the VIVESCICA agro-industrial group, ensuring an ingredient supply chain cultivated with respect for the grain’s natural integrity. This field-to-extract chain enhances value at every stage, driven by quality and expertise.
Our company culture is deeply rooted in values passed down by those before us: a work and relationship ethic, focus on quality and natural integrity of our products, commitment to active workplace safety policies, and proactive leadership in respecting and preserving the environment.
For over a century, the quality of Diamalteria Italiana’s ingredients and products has been a trusted standard for all. We approach service as a partnership with our clients, ensuring they receive the best possible solution for their specific project.
As part of Malteurop, we embrace an additional set of core values captured in four guiding principles: be genuine, work for the long term, dare to be entrepreneurial, and act together.
Diamalteria Italiana is a company aware of its social responsibility. We actively share and pursue the goals of the 2030 Agenda, developing long-term projects aligned with our parent company, Malteurop, aimed at the continuous improvement of every aspect related to CSR policies, always with a keen focus on our impact on the local community.
We have ambitious programs to pursue in the coming years. These are long-term projects that engage the territory and have a direct impact on daily life today and in the future.
The production of malt extract is a complex industrial process. Our role as a leading company is to minimize our ecological footprint as much as possible by establishing goals and actions, utilizing the most effective resources with a long-term perspective.
Diamalteria Italiana is a factory around which a community has developed. It serves as the gravitational center that has attracted generations of employees, who have passed down their work and attachment to the company to their children. It stands as an example of how things can be done well, respecting both social ethics and profit, both yesterday and today, following a virtuous and unique tradition.
Everyone remembers the times when the factory sirens dictated the daily rhythms of the residents of Darfo Boario Terme: school schedules, lunchtime, and the return home. There are still stories about when the factory opened its doors to host the local population seeking refuge in its underground during the bombings of World War II.
More than just a workplace and an industrial facility, Diamalteria Italiana is intricately connected to its territory, woven together through personal belonging and a collective vision for future generations.
Our role within society is interpreted through the lens of active participation: Diamalteria Italiana continues to be an “open factory,” strengthening its relationship with the surrounding community through various initiatives while maintaining a constant commitment to minimizing our ecological footprint.
Our roots are deeply embedded in a territory that has been dedicated to the processing of raw materials for centuries. On the site of the current facility, a mill and a sawmill already existed by the mid-1700s, and a brick kiln was built shortly thereafter.
For malt extraction, we have always used water from Mount Altissimo, channeled directly from the spring sources, certified by the numerous tests it undergoes.
Being part of Malteurop and the VIVESCIA agro-industrial group allows us to maintain a to ensure an ingredient supply chain cultivated with respect for grains natural integrity, capable of accompanying our products “from field to table.” The grains are cultivated in Europe, adhering to the highest standards of safety and ingredient integrity.
We uphold this approach in the production of malt’s magic: our products are natural and retain their nutritional properties without the addition of E numbers.
We believe in agriculture that respects the land and the people who work it; we want every product from Diamalteria Italiana to make a difference in every aspect.
Diamalteria Italiana is certified FSSC 22000, Ecovadis for its systems and processes, and holds Organic, Kosher, and Halal certifications for its products.
